The short version: the Not So Fast extension keeps everything on your computer. There is no account, no tracking, and no ads. Nothing about you or your browsing is sent to us or anyone else.
The extension
- What it stores: the sites you guard, the question packs you pick, your settings, which cards you've gotten right or wrong, and your streak and stats. All of it lives in Chrome's storage on your device.
- What it sends: nothing. The extension has no analytics and never uploads your data.
- Site access: Chrome asks your OK for each site you add. The extension uses that access only to send those sites to the quiz page. It never reads what's on the page.
- The pack library: when you open settings, the extension downloads a list of question packs from not-so-fast.com, and a pack's questions if you add one. Those are plain files. Like any web request, it includes your IP address, which our host (GitHub Pages) may log. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Site icons in settings come from Chrome's own cache, not from the internet.
- Uninstalling opens a goodbye page on this website. Uninstalling also deletes everything the extension stored.
This website
not-so-fast.com counts visits with GoatCounter, which doesn't use cookies or track you across sites. It records the page, where you came from, your browser and screen size, and your country. It doesn't store your IP address. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages.
